It’s not just the fairy tales that have us captivated with tv show ‘Once Upon A Time‘.
The set designers pay special attention to the backgrounds, using wallpaper to help tell the story of the characters.

Carrie and Big’s living room includes a Montauk Sofa upholstered in blue wool-mohair from Donghia and a pair of beige midcentury side chairs. The bright floral Birdie Blossom Cushion by Paul Smith for the Rug Company adds a classic “Carrie” touch.
A blown-glass chandelier by Lindsey Adelman Studio is a showstopper in Carrie and Big’s hallway.
Carrie and Big’s bedroom is a striking blend of pattern and texture. The custom-headboard is covered in fabric by Kravet and pops against the neutral Rococo Stripe wallpaper by by Cole & Son from Lee Jofa. The bedding is from Anichini.
The closet is a functional his-and-hers space, with Big’s clothes on the left and Carrie’s (mostly) on the right. It’s more subdued than the flashier closet of the first film, set decorator Lydia Marks says: “The ‘wow’ factors are the woodwork and the hardware. It’s more grown up and sophisticated.”

In the Dining Room…Often when designing a dining room, it’s hard to know what to do with the coffered ceiling. Why not treat it like a 5th wall? Paint it a nice accent colour, pulled from fabrics, a rug or even your good china. If you want to take it to another level, try a nice sophisticated wallpaper. We love this black and white paisley shown above, it’s timeless and flexible; allowing bold pops of colour in furnishings and artwork.
In a Bedroom…Putting wallpaper on the ceiling of a childs bedroom, is fun and unexpected. It truly is a 5th wall, so when addressed properly…it can really transform a room. This nursery was designed by Sarah Richardson.
Your bathrooms both turned out gorgeous Doris, thank you for the photos.
