wallpaper on the ceiling?

In the Dining Room…Often when designing a dining room, it’s hard to know what to do with the coffered ceiling. Why not treat it like a 5th wall?  Paint it a nice accent colour, pulled from fabrics, a rug or even your good china. If you want to take it to another level, try a nice sophisticated wallpaper. We love this black and white paisley shown above, it’s timeless and flexible; allowing bold pops of colour in furnishings and artwork.

In a Bedroom…Putting wallpaper on the ceiling of a childs bedroom, is fun and unexpected.  It truly is a 5th wall, so when addressed properly…it can really transform a room. This nursery was designed by Sarah Richardson.

Nursery furniture + colour inspiration

This bedroom is a perfect example of how paint colours for nurseries are really branching out.  This charcoal colour with red accessories is perfect if you don’t know the babies sex. Other options would be charcoal walls with pink or purple accessories for a girl. For boys, charcoal walls with light blue or green for a boy.

* This modern nursery furniture is by German company, Paidi.

This 10′ x 10.5′ nursery is nothing close to small and generic. It’s bold use of pattern and deep coloured walls are fearless and fresh. Another good example of how using a dark deep charcoal paint colour can be a unisex backdrop and grow into childhood with your child. By painting the crib medium gray, it also neutralizes the space. Bring in the softer tones and more feminine/masculine colours with accessories, fabrics and furniture.

For a similar wall colour try Benjamin Moores (Gray 2121-10).
