Kids Will Be Kids

There is a whole new trend in playrooms and they aren’t painted in primary colours. These rooms have inspirational words and fun added touches, they can be easily transformed back into any type of space when kids outgrow them.

HC-172This wall colour is Benjamin Moore’s HC-172 Revere Pewter, it’s a beautiful light gray that will make any kid’s space feel playful, yet sophisticated. (via @mylivedinhouse )

CC-500This playroom is in Benjamin’s Moore’s CC-500 Ranchwood, it is a neutral taupe that will flow with most colour schemes.

Use natural elements like sisal, wood and metal to give texture and interest. Who doesn’t want a tipi in their play room?

2122-40This playroom feature wall has useful built-in storage and a dark wood accent wall, creating somewhat of a media section.

The baskets on the lower shelves are painted in Benjamin Moore’s 2122-40 Smoke and stencilled in white numbers. They could be painted in multiple colours, even if only in the gray tones. Tester pots are the perfect paint size for projects like this.

CC-756These built-in’s are great for storage and the design would work for most rooms, all you need to do is add a fun rug, table/chairs and a chalkboard and you have a little class room to play. This room is painted in Benjamin’s Moore’s CC-765 Avalon.

7 Tester Pot Projects

Are you thinking of making some colourful changes in your home but don’t know how to start? Sometimes it can be as easy as finding inspiration and purchasing a few tester pots.  Benjamin Moore Sample Pots are available in any colour.

Yep…all you need is a few tester pots of paint, brushes and a roll of masking tape.

Half Dipped Furniture

The dipped effect can transform old an boring chair in no time. It looks good on practically any furniture with legs, it’s also a clever way to make mismatched chairs feel artfully eclectic. We suggest sticking to one shade or go for a palette of pastel tones for a pretty vibe.

We are enjoying this half-painted dipped look on furniture…including art. Painting over a framed picture may feel slightly ‘wrong’, but consider it this way: it gives creepy charity shop paintings a new lease of life and your walls a quirk at the same time – win-win.

Baskets are the saviours of miscellaneous clutter, they’re a staple of the modern home. Turn a plain off-the-shelf design into an artisanal piece of storage with a few vibrant shades of paint, some masking tape and a few brushes. Not sure what colour? Find something to find inspiration from in your space and go from there.

A fusion of two of the biggest interiors trends of the moment – indoor greenery and paint dipping. Terracotta’s earthy quality looks striking when contrasted with a crisp monochrome palette – mix up patterns and techniques to get a visually interesting display.

Tree Stumps

Does your room need some texture in the form of a rustic tree stump table? With a little clean up, a light sanding and a coat of paint you have yourself a unique side table-come-stool.

Dresser Drawers

Tone, on tone, on tone…this is a unique way to transform an old dresser or night table. It’s even easier if the base is white, this project involves the drawers only. For this project we recommend choosing colours at least 2 shades away from each other, otherwise you may not see the right amount of contrast.

D.I.Y Art & Mural

This tone on tone look creates a depth and almost perspective like view, you can do it in any shape or style. Mixing up different colours can be very modern and fun!
